INSERT TITLE: philo madness

"Like a blabbling idiot, I held my stand."


I had my Long Exam today in Philo I in a form of an interview. Geez! I feel stupid in front of him. All I got in return is a blank face. I don't even know if my answers were close -- or dead cold. I now know the stupid feeling of getting interviewed without knowing if you're answering right or not.
"It's too painful to reminisce."
The prof. asked me about the difference between denotation and connotation. I answered that denotation relies on the literal meaning based on the dictionary. On the other hand, the connotation of a term relies on the experiences of individuals on how they associate the said term. I got a blank face in return.

He asked me what's the meaning of referential theory of meaning. I answered that it's the object being refered to and its corresponding meaning. Again, blank face.
"Where does the meaning reside?" my professor asked.

"It does not reside on the denotation or the connotation. It depends. It resides on the concept on how the term is used on a language game." again, blank face.

"Thank you very much for the time. I'll be seeing you on our next meeting. You may go now." at last, I saw a smile from him.
Then, I made my way out of the room. I told Naru what happened and what were some of my answers. She told me that I answered some of them correctly. Boy, it's great to hear that coming from an expert. I'm glad it's over.

Keitaro Urashima is a 19 year-old student, at the start of Love Hina, who is trying to get into Tokyo University.

After failing the entrance exams twice and becoming a second-year ronin, he is kicked out of home by his cheap parents, and goes to his grandmother's hotel, thinking he might be able to stay there.

However, he finds out the hard way that his grandmother has turned the hotel into an all-girls dormitory. Through a combination of bad luck and timing, he encounters Naru Narusegawa in the open-air hot springs bath and infuriates her. He then proceeds to land on the bad side of the other dorm residents, before Haruka arrives and metaphorically bails him out. Ultimately he does end up staying at the Hinata House, though the reason and timing varies slightly between the anime and the manga.

Keitaro takes promises seriously, and it seems that he made a number of important ones during his childhood. First and foremost was his promise of 15 years ago (age 5) with a little girl he barely remembers that they would get into Tokyo University together one day.
